To my subscribers: This weekend I will post “Judah’s Railroad,” my first True Yarns Ltd. piece since Margo and I upped and moved from our home of 35 years on the northwest slope of Bernal Heights in San Francisco. Too steep. We are now settled in at our new home on a flatter street a few blocks away, still in Bernal. (3422 Harrison St., SF 94110). “New” is not quite correct. The house, a much-modified blue-collar Edwardian, was built in 1900. We are co-owners with our daughter Kenny and her husband, Kevin, and their dog, Lucy. Our old home (1904) is being gussied up for sale next year.
After the holidays I hope to post more stuff in the skein of Darling Divas of the Limelight – Lotta Crabtree, Adah Menken and Princess von Racowitza, possibly Truly Shattuck. In the pipeline: Visits to Armageddon (Israel), Avebury (England), and wartime Saigon (1970?). A look at the Ding Dong Daddy of the D-car Line. And more lore about words, starting with palindromes.
(I don’t know that Substack’s rule book, if any, allows these updates. Oh, well.)
Seasonal greetings!
Lynn
